What is coco peat?
Coco peat, also known as coir pith or coco coir, is a soft, earthy material made from the fibrous husk of coconuts. It's a sustainable, biodegradable alternative to traditional peat moss—and a favorite among plant enthusiasts for its versatility and eco-friendliness.
How it's made?
Once coconuts are harvested for food and drink, the leftover husks are soaked, softened, and processed into fine, soil-like particles. This upcycled byproduct is then dried, compressed, and packaged—ready to help your plants thrive!
Where it comes from?
Coco peat is mainly produced in tropical countries like India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Malaysia, where coconut farming is abundant and deeply rooted in the culture.
How it's used?
It’s ideal for seed starting, potting mixes, hydroponic systems, and improving garden beds. Coco peat retains water beautifully while promoting airflow—keeping roots moist but never soggy.
Fun fact!
Coco peat can absorb 8–10 times its weight in water and resists compaction, making it perfect for our warm Malaysian climate and thirsty plants.
